Hello,
As promised here is the vest that I sewed for my trip to southern California late July.
It is a Cotton/Rayon blend fabric and very easy to work with. The photo on the front of the pattern showed the gal wearing this in blue fabric. That is why I choose this blue fabric, my favourite colour!
I pinned this closed, then I decided not to have an elastic waistband and make this as a vest instead. The high/low hem is so nice, but for my flight I hemmed up the back to make it even with the front. My flight was at 5am, early and needed to feel safe walking on escalators, moving walkways and light rail cars in Seattle. Will take out the temporary stitching and make it high/low again. Bought this mannequin several years ago when I sewed a tweed jacket. My jean jacket was bought in Calgary, Alberta at Marks for about $30 Canadian. A jean jacket is a must-have for your closet, it can be paired with so many pieces to make an outfit and to keep your arms covered if you are cold.
If any of you sew, this was a very easy fun project and completed this in a couple of days. Just because a pattern is one way, if you are an experienced seamstress go ahead and be as creative as you want.
Enjoy your Sunday afternoon, be beautiful, walking, hiking, laying by the pool too!
Ann
